7 Podium alternatives compared with prices checked in September 2026 — plus what real Podium customers say about cost, contracts and support.

Search for Podium's price and you won't find one on Podium's own site. Podium's pricing page lists no plan prices — it tells you to "talk to our sales team". So the best evidence of what Podium costs, and what it's like to leave, comes from the people who signed the agreement.
We read the most recent one- and two-star Podium reviews on Trustpilot, checked the pricing pages of Podium and the six paid alternatives below on 21 September 2026, and put both in one place. If you only need review requests to go out automatically after each job, one of these will cost a fraction of Podium's price. If you need Podium's full messaging suite, we'll say so.
Disclosure: Plaudit is a review-request tool and one of the seven options below. We've listed its weaknesses alongside everyone else's, and recommended other tools where they are the better fit.
Quick answer
The best Podium alternative depends on what you use Podium for. For automated review requests at the lowest price, choose Plaudit ($19–$39/month). For review requests plus referral and repeat-business campaigns, choose NiceJob ($75–$125/month). For surveys and NPS, choose GatherUp ($99/month). For agencies running many client accounts, choose Grade.us. Stay with Podium or look at Birdeye only if you need a full multi-location messaging suite.
What Podium customers say (in their own words)
These are excerpts from public Trustpilot reviews posted between July and August 2026. Each links to the original review. The cost and contract complaints repeat.
“…they autonew and lock you in for a year at a time. You cannot modify your plan or your 12 month service agreement starts all over. We pay almost $600 a month for the same service other businesses charge a 10th of the price for.”
“I just made my last payment to Podium after not using their service for 10 months!” … “They offered me a buyout for the remaining 10 months I owed... so I just paid monthly for about 7 months.”
“…sales reps promised me that client group texting was fully supported. When it didn't work, they claimed it was "in the pipeline." It never arrived.” … “I just found an alternative software that does exactly what I actually need for $300 less a month.”
“We were forced into a year agreement and stopped answering our emails and calls…”
The pattern: none of these reviewers say the software can't send review requests. They say the price was high for what they used, the agreement renewed for a year, and getting out was harder than getting in.
The other side: Podium's Trustpilot score at the time of writing is 4.1 out of 5 from 360 reviews, and its happiest customers value the review tooling specifically. One five-star reviewer wrote: “Podium has been mostly really great… the most beneficial feature for us is the review generator. Our customer review totals have jumped exponentially” (Trustpilot, June 2026). Podium works — the complaints are about cost, lock-in and support, not about whether the product functions.

1. Plaudit — best for the cheapest automated review requests
Best for: single-location businesses and small teams whose main goal is more Google reviews without a sales call. (This is our product — read this section with that in mind.)
Price: $19/month Starter (email only, up to 100 requests/month, one review platform), $39/month Growth (email + SMS, up to 300 requests/month, automatic follow-ups, integrations), $79/month Pro (up to 1,000 requests/month, multiple locations). 7-day free trial, no credit card.
What you get: requests triggered after a job, a direct link to the review form, one automatic reminder, and a dashboard of requests sent. Growth adds integrations such as Xero and QuickBooks so a request can fire when an invoice is raised.
Pros - The lowest published price in this list, with month-to-month terms - Set up in minutes rather than through an onboarding call - Built around one job, so there's little to configure
Cons - SMS is not on the $19 plan. You need Growth ($39) for text messages - Not a reputation suite: no listings management, webchat or shared inbox - Built-in SMS business verification (A2P 10DLC) is for US sending only — see our SMS review request guide for what that involves - A younger product with a smaller customer base than the incumbents here

2. NiceJob — best if you also want referrals and repeat business
Best for: home-service and trades businesses that want review requests plus follow-on campaigns to past customers.
Price: $75/month Starter (reviews, social proof, social sharing, team leaderboard, microsite) and $125/month Pro, which adds repeat-customer campaigns, referrals, broadcasts, AI replies, gifts, NPS surveys and competitive intel. No contracts, 14-day free trial (NiceJob pricing).
Pros - Goes beyond reviews: referrals and repeat-business campaigns are built in - Lists integrations such as Jobber, QuickBooks and Square on its site - Cancel-anytime terms
Cons - Starter costs about four times Plaudit's entry plan - Referrals, AI replies and NPS surveys need the $125 Pro plan - If you only want review requests, you're paying for features you won't use — the same complaint Podium customers make
3. GatherUp — best for surveys, NPS and multi-location monitoring
Best for: businesses that want feedback surveys and review monitoring alongside requests.
Price: $99/month for one location, $60/month per location for multi-location plans, with up to 300 SMS and 3,000 email credits per location per month included. Extras include a Listings Hub add-on ($40/month per location). 14-day free trial (GatherUp pricing).
Pros - SMS and email volume is stated up front, so you can predict costs - Net Promoter Score and survey tools included on every plan - Review monitoring across 100+ sites and AI-drafted replies
Cons - A $99 entry point is well above review-request-only tools - Listings management and review-defence features are paid add-ons - Broader than a solo owner may need
Ownership note: GatherUp and Grade.us were both acquired by Insight Integrity, announced in December 2025. Their published pricing structures now look almost identical, so compare features rather than price between them.
4. Grade.us — best for agencies managing client accounts
Best for: marketing agencies and resellers who need white-label dashboards for many clients.
Price: $99/month for one location, $60/month per location for 2–10 locations, and agency plans quoted from around $400/month. A white-label premium add-on is listed at $440 per year. 14-day free trial, monthly or annual billing (Grade.us plans).
Pros - Purpose-built white-label options and multiple seats - Email and SMS review campaigns plus monitoring on all plans - No credit card for the trial
Cons - The plan structure is agency-first, which is more than a single-location owner needs - SMS pricing isn't itemised on the pricing page, so ask before you commit - Higher entry price than review-only tools
5. Broadly — best if you want an AI receptionist and reviews together
Best for: local service businesses that want AI chat or call answering as well as review management, and can budget for it.
Price: Standard $399/month plus a $350 setup fee (AI chat receptionist, basic CRM, review management); Pro $699/month adds SMS texting and an AI reputation specialist; Premium $999/month adds phone answering. No long-term contract (Broadly pricing).
Pros - Month-to-month terms with published prices - Covers the front desk as well as reviews - Prorated refund on unused months for annual plans
Cons - The most expensive published option here, and it has a setup fee - SMS texting only starts on the $699 Pro plan - Overkill if reviews are your only goal
6. Birdeye — best for multi-location reputation management
Best for: multi-location businesses that need review monitoring, listings and reporting across many sites.
Price: not published. Birdeye's pricing page asks you to request a quote by location count (1–3, 4–9, 10–39 and upwards). Its Trustpilot score is 3.2 from 672 reviews at the time of writing, and recent negative reviews centre on cancellations and renewals. One reviewer describes the problem this way: “We notified Birdeye in writing that we wanted to cancel our service” (Trustpilot, September 2026). Birdeye is a bigger platform than Podium in reputation and listings management, and for a multi-location brand that can be the right trade-off.
Pros - Broadest reputation and listings feature set in this list - Built for many locations - Quote-based pricing that scales by location count
Cons - No published price to budget against - Same lock-in and renewal concerns customers raise about Podium - Far more than a single-location business needs
For the full picture, see our best Birdeye alternatives roundup.
7. Your Google review link and a QR code — best if you're just starting
Best for: businesses that see a handful of customers a week and can ask in person.
Price: free. Find your Google review link, then print it as a QR code with our free review QR code generator. Google's own guidance says you can “ask customers to visit a Google link or scan a QR code” (Google Business Profile Help).
Pros - Costs nothing and takes ten minutes - Fine at low volume
Cons - Entirely manual: it only works when someone remembers to ask - No follow-up, no tracking of who was asked - In-store QR prompts concentrated in short bursts can trigger Google's spam filtering — see why Google reviews don't show up
How to choose
- You only want review requests to send themselves: Plaudit (cheapest) or GatherUp (more surveys and monitoring).
- You want referrals and repeat-customer campaigns: NiceJob Pro.
- You run client accounts as an agency: Grade.us.
- You want an AI receptionist too and can pay for it: Broadly.
- You run many locations and need listings and reporting: stay on Podium, or get a quote from Birdeye. Ask both for the total cost including messaging fees, and the renewal and cancellation terms in writing.
- You're not sure reviews justify a subscription yet: start with your review link and a QR code.
Before you leave Podium: a short checklist
- Find the renewal date and notice period in your agreement, and put both in your calendar.
- Export your contacts and any message templates as CSV before you cancel.
- Send your cancellation in writing and keep the confirmation. In the Trustpilot reviews we read, the disputes start when written notice can't be found.
- Copy your Google review link into the new tool so requests keep landing on the same profile.
- Ask the new vendor for the total monthly cost including SMS fees, and what happens at renewal.
How we evaluated these tools
- Pricing was read from each vendor's official pricing page on 21 September 2026. Where a vendor doesn't publish prices, we say so rather than estimate. Prices change, so confirm on the vendor's page before buying.
- Customer experience comes from public Trustpilot reviews, quoted verbatim with a link. Reviews are individual experiences, not a representative sample, and we've included positive as well as negative ones.
- Ownership: Plaudit is our product. We've kept its section to the same format as the others, including its cons.
